Overview mini research : STUDENT’ PERSPECTIVE ON THE USE OF PODCAST AS LEARNING MEDIA IN LISTENING PROCEDURE TEXT
This study aims to determine the effect of using podcasts in improving students' listening skills in the English Education study program, especially in understanding procedural texts. In the process of learning English, listening is an important skill that supports the development of other language skills. The use of technology, especially podcasts, has become a promising method to support independent learning and allows students to access relevant audio flexibly. Through podcasts, students can repeat and deepen the material as needed, which is expected to improve their understanding and ability in listening.
This study uses a qualitative method to understand students' perspectives on their experiences in using podcasts as a learning medium. Data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire distributed to eight English education students who had experience using podcasts in learning listening. This questionnaire was created to determine students' views on the effectiveness of podcasts, the benefits they felt, and the challenges they faced.
The results of this study are expected to provide insight into students' perceptions of the use of podcasts in listening learning and to identify factors that make learning successful. This study can be a reference for educators in designing more effective listening teaching media methods by utilizing audio technology such as podcasts.
