 Overview:

Students' Perception of Audio-Visual Media in Learning Procedure Text for Listening Class

This study explores students' perceptions of audio-visual media in learning procedure texts for Listening classes. The background highlights that while listening comprehension is challenging, the integration of visual elements with audio can enhance students' understanding by providing context and aiding vocabulary recognition. Audio-visual media, particularly video subtitles, is emphasized as an effective tool that assists students in interpreting content, improving focus, and recalling information.

The study’s objectives are to simplify the learning of procedural texts, deepen students' comprehension, and investigate their experiences with audio-visual media. Literature reviewed indicates that listening involves complex processes of understanding, yet often lacks student motivation. Research suggests that audio-visual aids, such as tutorial videos, help students grasp procedural steps more effectively than audio alone, encouraging autonomy and better listening comprehension.

A qualitative approach is used, involving a questionnaire for data collection from ten college students. Key research questions focus on students' comprehension of procedure texts through audio-visuals, factors influencing understanding, and attitudes toward these media. This study aims to reveal how audio-visual materials contribute to students' engagement and learning efficacy in Listening classes.
