"Improving Ability in Teaching Procedure Text for Listening Skills Using Visual Audio Media."
Introduction
The study discusses the importance of listening skills in language acquisition, particularly for understanding procedural texts, which offer step-by-step instructions in various academic subjects. Traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students, making it challenging to develop effective listening strategies. The research suggests that visual audio media such as videos, animations, and interactive presentations can address these limitations by creating engaging, multimodal learning experiences. This approach accommodates different learning styles, potentially enhancing comprehension and engagement for a broader range of students.
Research Questions
The study aims to answer several questions:
- How does visual audio media impact student engagement and motivation during listening tasks?
- What challenges do students face in understanding procedural texts through listening?
- How can visual audio media address these challenges and improve listening comprehension?
Methods
A quantitative research design is used, targeting 3rd semester students Class C with total 4-6 participants. Data is collected through a listening comprehension test and a questionnaire that measures students’ perceptions of visual audio materials.
Data Collection
- Listening Comprehension Test: A standardized test with questions based on audio clips related to procedural texts.
- Questionnaire: Distributed post-test, gathering demographic information and student feedback on audio-visual media experiences.
This research aims to contribute insights into innovative teaching practices by assessing the effectiveness of visual audio media in teaching listening comprehension for procedural texts.
