The Effect of Different Accent in Understanding Procedure Text in Listening Class
This study examines how British and American accents influence students' comprehension of procedure texts in listening exercises. Conducted with ten English Education students at IAIN Kediri, the research used a quantitative method, involving tests with various question types. Findings show that students generally performed better with British accents, particularly in multiple-choice and true/false questions, while American accents yielded higher scores in gap-filling and essay questions. The study highlights the role of accent familiarity, audio quality, and question type in listening comprehension and emphasizes the importance of exposing learners to diverse accents to improve their adaptability and global communication skills.
